JOB TITLE: APPLICATION & SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Information Systems and Network Manager, the Application & Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.

•Install, configure, implement and maintenance of assigned software applications.

•Plan, design, install, and maintain systems, servers, virtual environments, etc. in order to ensure systems are running efficiently and in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

•Research and recommend innovative and possibly automated approaches for system administration tasks.

•Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.

•Reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

•Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

•Assist in building end user computers and installing appropriate applications.

•Troubleshoot hardware & software issues to acceptable resolution.

•Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

•Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment

•Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.

•Develop procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.

•Windows Server Active Directory administration.

•Assist with budgeting and purchase of applicable software, hardware, peripherals and licenses.

•Maintain a secure and stable network environment.

•Complete special projects.

•Promote products and services.

•Attend all meetings as required.

•Maintain clean and professional work area and appearance.

•Maintain positive public relations and promote credit union within the community.

•Complete educational programs as required.

•Perform the following commitments of service to each and every member at all times:

APPLICATION & SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON:

•Shoretel or other VOIP experience preferred.

•Understanding of a Microsoft Server/VmWare environment, utilizing a combination of PCs, zero-client terminals, and peripheral devices.

•Advanced problem solving abilities sufficient to analyze situations and make decisions based upon research, understanding impact of risks, and negotiation with other individuals and groups.

•Network Design and security: Installation, configuration, & monitoring.

•Working knowledge of networking architecture, virtualization technologies, and storage architecture.

•Working knowledge of PCOIP, VOIP, and TCP/IP Protocol including A, B, and C Subnets and gateways.

•Ability to test, install and configure vendor software applications and blend them into a secure environment as not to compromise other installed programs or security.

•Effective oral and written communications skills.

•Willingness to work varied hours, and holidays when necessary.

•Ability to perform under pressure.

•Demonstrated project management skills.

•Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

•Demonstrated ability to translate user requirements to systems specifications.

•Team player.

•Willingness to continue education so principal duties/responsibilities indicated above can be completed.

EDUCATION:

•Computer Science or equivalent related experience.

•Microsoft certified MCSA or willing to complete within a set timeframe.

•VMware certified VCP6-DCV and/or VCP7/DTM or willing to complete within a set timeframe.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

The following physical activities will be required on a day-to-day basis: climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, pulling, fingering, feeling, hearing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, standing, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, repetitive motions.

VISUAL/PERCEPTION ACTIVITY:

HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS NEEDED:

Ability to communicate effectively with members, staff, credit union members and contacts outside the credit union in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
